The Creative Boardroom: Collaborate4Climate exhibition was delighted to open in the ESB headquarters at no 27 Fitzwilliam Square this week. Formally launched by Sharon McManus, Group Head of Sustainability at ESB with Laura Magahy (CDir), Chair, Creative Boardroom Steering Group and Tom Bean (CDir), Director of Innovation & New Products at ESB. The exhibition will run from 15 December 2025 – 16 January 2026 with graphics from the programme also on display on screens around the building.
The Creative Boardroom: Collaborate4Climate partnership project officially launched with an event at the ESB HQ back in November 2023. It was wonderful for the programme to come full circle and for the travelling exhibition to be welcomed back 2 years on. We would like to express our thanks to wider ESB team for supporting it’s display in the lobby of no 27 Fitzwilliam Square.
A special thanks to Tom Bean, one of the participant Chartered Directors from the Institute of Directors Ireland who took part in phase 1 of the programme alongside students from NCAD and IADT, for his ongoing engagement and support of the project.
Net Zero By 2040 – Climate change is one of the defining challenges of this generation. To this end, ESB is taking urgent and focused action to achieve net zero emissions by 2040 and putting in place the infrastructure and services to enable our customers and broader society to live more sustainably. We are balancing this with the imperative to maintain reliable and affordable electricity supplies to
support customers, communities and our economy.
ESB’s Progress – By end of 2024, ESB had developed a portfolio of almost 2GW of renewable and renewable enabling generation, our networks business had connected almost 9GW of renewables on the island of Ireland and the carbon intensity of ESB’s electricity generation had reduced by 46% since our 2005 baseline.
Fitzwilliam 27 (F27) – ESB’s purpose is to deliver a brighter future and F27’s design demonstrates our commitment to that purpose, and to our strategy. F27 is designed to be a world-class sustainable workplace that prioritises the safety, health and wellbeing of the people who work here. The building’s modern design puts sustainability at its core, as demonstrated by the 62% reduction in electricity use compared to our former head office. A combination of rain water harvesting, low flow design and devices have reduced average annual water consumption by up to 78%. The waste streams from the building divert 99% of all waste from landfill, with waste volumes also down significantly, following our commitment to remove single use items from our catering offering, removing almost 1 million single use items from our annual catering services.
