About

Join us for an unforgettable screening event on Wednesday 10th May in the Lighthouse Cinema!

CFA at UCD is excited to present ‘Tongues Untied,’ an experimental film by the late Marlon Riggs that explores the impact of internalised racism and homophobia on marginalised communities. This film is a cornerstone of queer Black cinema and a testament to Riggs’ power as a pioneering father of queer film.

Accompanied by a collection of shorts that delve into Black and queer modes of expression, this screening is a must-see for anyone interested in the power of film to shift perspectives.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Rico Johnson-Sinclair, (Race and Equality Lead at the British Film Institute) and Dr Nicolas Pillai (UCD’s Creative Futures Academy) for a Q&A following the screening.

Don’t miss out on this special archive title that speaks to the QTBIPOC community and the importance of intersectional perspectives. Join us for an evening of powerful storytelling and celebration of diverse voices. See you there!

Please send your RSVP to rsvp@diff.ie to attend the event on Wednesday 10th May in the Lighthouse Cinema, 6.30pm – 8.30pm. This event is kindly supported by British Council and Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF).
