Structures of Presence brings together the capstone projects of the CFA at NCAD Professional Diploma in Digital Making, 2025. Taking Yuk Hui’s concept of technodiversity as a collective starting point, each response unfurls a distinct and specific branch of enquiry, rooted in processes of digital fabrication in their material making.
This two-day public sharing offers the opportunity to see makers in the midst of their process. Whilst the course draws to a close these prototypes, provocations, and experiments are starting points rather than final outcomes; creations and questions ready to be taken out into the world. From analogue surveillance and zoetropes to intricate maps of past presence and speculative rituals, across the projects there is a distinct resonance with Yuk Hui’s belief in the possibility and plurality of technologies; something woven into the fabric of our lives that shapes and is shaped by each of us.
Structures of Presence opens with a launch at 1pm, Saturday 8th of November, as part of Beta Festival (the iD8 Building, Digital Hub, 8 The Square, Dublin, D04 P4F5). The show continues until 4pm, Saturday 8th, and from 10am-4pm, Sunday 9th of November.
Featuring projects by Aileen Howell, Caitríona Walsh, Chloe Mowlds, Ciara O’Flaherty, Julie Corcoran, Maria Atanacković, Mel Galley, Michael Stafford, Steve M. Potter and Úna Curley. With thanks to the Digital Making course staff; Adam Gibney, Oscar Diaz and Carl McAteer.
