In March, five students from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin took part in a two‑day AI Media Literacy workshop in Belfast. This programme is the second iteration of a workshop series that began in Dublin in November 2025, hosted by British Council Ireland and Creative Futures Academy (CFA) and delivered by ThinkYoung.
During the first session in Dublin, students worked in groups to design AI‑driven projects aimed at creating a positive impact in society. In Belfast, they built on that foundation by meeting stakeholders, hearing from media experts, and presenting their ideas publicly. They also collaborated with students from Scotland, Greece, France, Romania and Cyprus, creating a rich international exchange.
Throughout the programme, participants heard from guest speakers at both Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast, where they explored how to navigate misinformation in the digital age. They had opportunities to network with stakeholders, learn how to develop an idea into an opportunity, and take part in a mock studio‑show presentation at the Queen’s University studio. The visit also included an impressive behind‑the‑scenes tour of Studio Ulster, showcasing cutting‑edge production facilities.
