We’re inviting everyone – artists, arts organisations, advocates, and the wider public – to help shape the future of the Basic Income for the Arts scheme.

Running since August 2022, this pilot provides €325 per week to 2,000 artists and creative practitioners, helping to ease the precarious financial pressures of a creative career. It fosters well-being, boosts artistic development, and encourages artists to stay connected to the sector.

Why your voice matters:

  • Evidence shows the scheme positively impacts well-being, practice development, sectoral retention, and deprivation

  • As the pilot approaches its conclusion in February 2026, Government decisions are pending on whether to continue, expand, or make the scheme permanent

What’s at stake and how to help:

  • Public consultation is open now until Friday, 5 September 2025 – don’t miss the chance to contribute.
