CFA is continuing to broaden our international presence through active participation in various European initiatives in culture, education and innovation. We actively share our journey in developing micro-credentials to help forge strategic collaborations across Europe and highlight CFA’s commitment to global engagement and its role in shaping the future of creative education and practice.
CFA is continuing to share our journey in developing micro-credentials with invitations to participate in the recent HCI networking session in Dublin, to present to the EU Commission’s Social Dialogue on the AV sector in Brussels and to contribute to a session hosted by DFHERIS – “Towards a Skills Intelligence Strategy for Higher Education” with representatives from the Spain Ministry of Education in November.
On 25th November, we presented our expertise to an EU audience at an event organised by SACCORD as part of the Creative Pact for Skills. CFA is seen as something of a frontrunner within a European context and this event highlighted the positive and transformative impact of micro-credentials for learners, industry professionals and higher education institutions.
CFA also took part in Creative Skills Europe meeting of national sector skills bodies & other training institutions on Thursday 5th December to provide an overview of the work of the CFA with particular focus on micro-credentials and how we are addressing identified skills needs in the creative and cultural industries.
CFA was delighted to welcome two members of the EIT Culture & Creativity KIC team to the new CFA Trapdoor space at UCD. From November 12–14, 2024, EIT Culture & Creativity, represented by Gijs Gootjes (Director Regional Hub North-West) and Oliver Heerde (Director Engagement, Communication and Services), met with CFA Director Louise Allen and were hosted by the UCD Engaged Creativity research strand in Dublin. During three days, the team explained programmes and activities, explored how to strengthen existing partnerships and build new ones, and gain a deeper understanding of Ireland’s creative landscape and its connections with mainland Europe.
CFA is collaborating with an EIT Climate-KIC / DAFM Deep Demonstration Project on climate change, with Prof P.J. Mathews working as a member of the expert team. December marks the end of a series of five visioning workshops held around Ireland as part of this flagship innovation project. The aim is to work with public and private stakeholders in the Irish land and agri-food system to help accelerate its pathways to climate neutrality. These workshops featured presentations by Prof Mathews (Director, UCD CFA) on collective action, social transformation, and the key role that culture and creativity can play in the journey towards carbon neutrality in 2050.
Earlier this year, Creative Futures Academy was delighted to be invited to present at Creative Skills Week in Amsterdam. Director Louise Allen and the CFA team shared their journey over the past 4 years and delivered presentations on all that has been achieved through our partnership with IADT, NCAD and UCD.
