Join award-winning author Dave Rudden (Knights of the Borrowed Dark, Doctor Who) for a one-week intensive course designed to give your start in writing fantasy fiction.
Students will analyse and dissect the greats of the genre, studying a wide range of writing techniques with the goal of applying them to their own work. From complex, relatable characters to intricate and plausible world-building to discovering their own unique narrative voice, students will learn what they need to stand apart in a crowded genre. There will be a focus on practical exercises and professional-grade feedback, as well as meeting industry insiders and guest authors for their insight on process and publishing.
For this initial pilot scheme, places are limited to just sixteen UCD students. As this is a pilot scheme, students will not receive any credits for taking this module, but they will benefit greatly from the unique experiences and opportunities this module offers.
