The aim of this short course is to develop skills in research and archive navigation, with an emphasis on creative use of archives. The course explores how the archives can be a repository of seed ideas for creative output, and how artefacts and assets in the archive can be harvested creatively. In short, the course is about utilising the material of a digital archive for the purpose of narrative construction and development and to present the findings in a narrative form – written, visual and/or audio.
In this course, you will:
You will be assessed through project and presentation work.
1st November 2022 – In person workshop from 10am to 1pm
Field Trips (optional) will be organised to visit different archives in Dublin as part of the course
12 December 2022 – In person project presentation from 10am to 1pm
2 x 1 hour online tutorials (dates and times will be organised with each student)
Note: Access to a laptop/desktop and internet is required to participate on this course.
The course is offered free of charge; funded by IADT and the Creative Futures Academy, under the Higher Education Authority’s Human Capital Initiative.
