The New Track? – Future Opportunities for Film, TV & Media
The Film, TV and Media sectors are undergoing significant changes. While original ideas, good stories and excellent production lie close to the hearts of creatives everywhere, is this enough to keep the industry alive? The streaming model that has prevailed for many years seems to be shifting. A slowdown in Film and TV production has led to an exodus of talent from the sector. AI is raising all kinds of alarm bells across the creative industries. The future of public sector media is unclear, especially in Ireland, where the state broadcaster RTE is in a challenging position.
With all of this uncertainty, what can we look forward to? What future opportunities might arise in these sectors? Where will we find the audiences of the future and what will they be watching? Can data analytics help us navigate a way forward? Will storytelling still resonate as it has always resonated? Do we need to find new ways of telling stories? How will we get things back on track? Or should we all be looking for the new track?
Panel Guests:
David Puttnam (Film Producer & Educator), Mark Little (Media Entrepreneur & Journalist), Emily Horgan (Media Consultant) and Kim Bartley (Writer & Director).
Chaired by: Sheila de Courcy (Media Producer & Writer).
