This course presents the opportunity to gain and develop practical production skills in film, television and live action and to keep pace with the ever-changing technology and practices.

Building on existing experience and skills you have learned through working or studying in a creative environment, this course will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the practical management and process for creative production.

This 9-week course offers a blended delivery with online evening classes and a few Saturdays on campus.

This course will give you the opportunity to:

• transition from one media form to another and to learn about the different pipelines that are appropriate for specific media.
• gain and develop practical production skills specifically for industries where technologies and practices are changing all of the time.
• incorporate your skills into real projects and productions.
• build towards further study, career progression, and/or provide a new set of skills to employ within your own practice.

IADT operates a rolling admissions policy for graduate taught courses, with decisions issued in 4 weeks after a submitted and complete application is received. An application is incomplete until you provide all required items on the checklist (including the application fee, if applicable).

Generally, courses will remain open to applications until all places are filled.

EU fees for this course in 2024 are €700, subsidised by IADT and Creative Futures Academy, under the Higher Education Authority’s Human Capital Initiative.

Non-EU fees are €1,100.

Lecturer Dee Kerins has worked in visual media production, since 1990s, in a variety of roles, mainly as a freelance producer of factual and documentary programmes for broadcast television. She has been involved in training and education since the early 2000s, designing and delivering courses for industry bodies and 3rd Level college students (undergraduate and postgraduate).

‘I actually think after doing the course I am quite keen to work in film. I currently work in television, for RTÉ, but more from an operations point of view. After doing this course, I think I would really like to get into production on filmsets. That’s why I found it so interesting to hear what an AD does, I think that’s something that would really appeal to me… I’d love a job that was really hands-on. I’ve always enjoyed being the person that someone goes to when they have a query or a question. I’ve always enjoyed the scheduling aspect, so now that I have budgeting under my belt I think I’ll definitely look into those roles now’.

Human Capital Initiative HCI Pillar 3 Micro-Credentials Subsidy funding

Creative Futures Academy has been awarded a total of €315,640 from the Human Capital Initiative HCI Pillar 3 Micro-Credentials Subsidy funding. Subsidies will range from 50 – 80% of the total course costs for eligible learners. Applications are now open for a number of courses with more coming on-stream in late 2024 and 2025.
